Standardizing Social Media Indicators That Point to Brand Success

Collective Intellect introduces Brand Tracker – an index that defines the key social media indicators that influence business value, like ROI. Check out the publicly available Brand Tracker for Cable and Broadcast TV at bit.ly/citvtracker or get an introduction to it via this video Transcript: The Broadcast & Cable TV Tracker is a publicly available Social Index that measures how much share a show is capturing for a particular day or week in social media. The share of audience is determined by counting the relevant and engaged conversation, the influence of its authors, and the total number of unique authors. Use it today to track how your Broadcast TV or Cable show is performing across the competitive landscape. Which author has the most influence? CI uses Klout to measure influence of Twitter users. Klout uses a 1-100 scale for measuring influence. CI accounts for volume and influence in its Influential Viewers metric– by multiplying the sum of all Klout scores by the volume for each show, and then converting to a share. We also take into account the exuberance some viewers have for their show by including a unique viewers metric. Some shows (or genres) may have a very small, but very vocal audience who, by discussing a show all the time, can skew numbers to make a show seem like it has a larger audience than it actually does. CI allows for multiple, enthusiastic posts by fans in the other two main metrics, but we adjust for it with the Unique Viewers metrics. We simply sum the number of “unique authors” posting about a show in the defined time period, and then convert it to a share.
